Today we got up and headed to Prague. Luckily, we had two extra breakfast vouchers so all 5 of us got to eat together. It was nice to have one last meal in Paris together. We Czeched out and left for the airport around 11:30 thinking our flight was at 2. We hopped on a bus and arrived at Charles de Gaulle around 12:40. Luckily, our flight wasn’t till 3 because the CDG airport was a little bit tricky today. It took us about 45 minutes to Czech in. Our carry-on could only weigh 8kg so we all had to unload our carry-ons and put more clothes into our Czeched bags. Note to travelers: you have to pay to Czech even one bag at this airport. We got through security and the TSA workers accidentally forgot to give Lisa her passport back. It was a little nerve-wracking because the plane was boarding supposedly at 2 and it was already 2:10. We arrived to the terminal and waited till 2:45. Our flight got delayed an hour!
As we waited in the airport, we each grabbed some lunch and swapped back massages. Carrying our bags takes a toll on our muscles so we had to loosen them up somehow! What else is there to do for an hour wait in the terminal? Finally, the bus came to pick us up to take us to the plane. We were a little surprised we had to take a bus to get on the plane. Our flight went smooth and we arrived in Prague around 6 p.m. It was funny because we did not know a single word in Czech! A lot of the people here speak English and advertisements are often in English, so we were not too worried. We kept asking the Czech citizens how to say words like “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me.” They were all very nice and helpful.
We Czeched in to our hotel and it was so modern and cool looking! Our hotel for the night is right by the airport, making it easy to meet our group in the morning. Once we got to our room, we met up with Riley who flew in from Kansas City around noon. We got settled in and then decided to go to dinner. I had my first goulash in Prague and it was so delicious. Definitely filled me up! We also had our first Czech beer! It was so cheap and hit the spot right away. After dinner we came back to the hotel and hung out a little in one of our rooms. Our program starts early tomorrow morning so we will meet our group at the airport! Tomorrow we move to our dorm right in the middle of the city! I’m excited to be living right in the heart of the Czech Republic for the next month!
